Oberlin Bass Workshop

In this set of photos master bass luthier Robbie Macintosh improvises a router guide to rout the channel for the Gemini D-Tube neck stiffener and 60 degree neck heel stiffener. This 19th century bass had a short grain break which would have required replacement of the neck if the stiffener hadn�t been added. The result was saving the original neck and making it stronger than it had been before. The 60 degree reinforcement installed in the heel provided extra strength in an area where bass necks often break and would be an excellent repair for neck that have already been broken there.
